ADDICTION SERVICES
The American health care system in beset with inequalities that have a disproportionate impact on people of color and other marginalized groups. These inequalities contribute to gaps in health insurance coverage, uneven access to services, and poorer health outcomes among these populations. African Americans bear the brunt of these healthcare challenges.
We at HHBH understand that African American clients who struggle with substance abuse and/or mental health disorders experiences, look very different than that of the men and women of the dominant culture, as it relates to their experience with the legal system, treatment encounters and accountability.
Historically, treatment programs have utilized a “one size fits all” treatment models and curriculum’s across cultures which have been proven to be a highly ineffective approach services provision to African American clients. In result, failing to customize treatment modalities to accommodate the different cultural needs, experiences and beliefs of the individual clients creates a barrier to the client attaining the treatment goals and objectives. At HHBH, we strive to better meet the treatment needs our clients by considering cultural factors by providing culturally specific treatment services, in order to foster a successful and sustainable treatment experience.
